Mediation & Arbitration Services
If you have given up on negotiating a settlement of your dispute directly with the other party, mediation or arbitration may be the best way to solve it. Provided she is not acting as council for one of the parties, Victoria Starr is available to act as mediator or arbitrator and can help you resolve your family law dispute in a way that increases the chances of reaching an agreement or arbitrated result that will satisfy both parties and allow you to work together again in the future.
Some disputes, by their very nature, can only be settled by litigation. Many, however, can be settled by mediation or by arbitration, with significant benefits to the parties involved.
Mediation
We can represent you at mediation, or we can act as the mediator to resolve your family law dispute.
Arbitration
We can represent you at arbitration, or we can act as the arbitrator to resolve your family law dispute.
Mediation is a form of assisted negotiation where an impartial third party, the mediator, helps people reach decisions they can agree on regarding the things they have difficulty talking about and agreeing to on their own. The mediator does not make decisions, take sides or judge but rather helps those involved in the dispute find options to resolve the problem. The choice of option is up to the parties. Mediation is, in most cases, voluntary, helps clarify areas of conflict and gives power to the parties.
Arbitration is a process whereby parties in dispute refer their disagreement to a mutually acceptable, knowledgeable, independent third party – an arbitrator – agreeing in advance to be bound by the arbitrator’s decision.
