Victoria is an experienced and skilled negotiator, litigator, trial and appeal lawyer who has practiced exclusively in the area of family and child protection law since being called to the Bar of Ontario in 1996. Victoria’s practice has expanded over the years such that she also offers her services as an accredited mediator, certified arbitrator and certified collaborative family law lawyer to those looking to resolve their disputes through an alternative process.

Victoria was co-counsel on the seminal retroactive child support appeal heard by the Supreme Court of Canada and has argued a number of appeals to the Court of Appeal for Ontario. She regularly litigates cases in the Toronto, Milton, Brampton, North York, Oshawa, and Newmarket courts. She is an equally effective and strong advocate in resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation and arbitration. Victoria also represents children in child protection matters as a member of the Children’s Lawyer Panel.

Malerie attended law school at the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. Prior to working with Starr Family Law, Malerie was an associate with a very prominent family law boutique for three years. Malerie regularly appears at the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice, and is a strong oral advocate.

Malerie has authored and co-authored legal research papers which have been presented at various professional conferences.  She is experienced in dealing with custody and access matters as well as property and support issues.

Malerie believes that the first step in any matter is to try to negotiate an amicable settlement. When a settlement cannot be achieved, she aggressively and passionately advocates on behalf of her clients.

Zehra is an associate lawyer with the firm. She completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, where she was actively involved in student government and community organizations. She studied law at the University of Ottawa and was called to the Bar in 2007. Zehra has worked for both the federal and provincial government. She has a long history of community advocacy and working with disadvantaged groups. Her practice is focused on all aspects of family and child protection law.
